Matanot La’Evyonim – Gifts to the Poor
One of the four mitzvot of Purim is Matanot La’Evyonim — giving gifts to those in need.
Purim is a celebration of Jewish unity. Haman sought to destroy us all; we were united in danger, and we are united in celebration. For that reason, on Purim day we place special emphasis on caring for the less fortunate among us.
On Purim, we give money or food to at least two people in need during the daylight hours of the holiday.
Chabad of Glencoe will distribute funds on Purim day to families in need throughout the Chicagoland area.
Please take part in this beautiful mitzvah by making a tax-deductible contribution that will be distributed on Purim.
